Mayor Bloomberg is trying to get rid of the obesity epidemic. He is trying to ban sodas over sixteen ounce from being sold in restaurants. Many people agree with him, but many are opposed to this. I personally do not agree with the ban.
This ban would help lower the obesity rate, which is far too high. “Nearly six out of ten New York residents are overweight or obese, as nearly four out of ten schoolchildren.” One of the major causes of obesity is over consumption of unhealthy foods. Food in America is far too big, our portion sizes are over double what they’re suppose to be. Most restaurants sell a large or “super sized” option, this is full of sugar and unhealthy calories we don’t need. Sugar is only good for you in small amounts, in large amounts it promotes fat storage in the body. Soda is also much cheaper than healthier options like fruit juice.
This ban may have some benefits but it also has its flaws. It will hurt America’s restaurant industry. Restaurants make a large portion of their profits from their drinks, and the bigger the drink the more money. It also should not be the states decision on what a company sells. “The free market should determine what a business chooses to sell. If the market demands healthier choices, then the business owner will meet the need.” It should be the company’s decision to sell a certain product or not to sell it. It goes against our freedoms to try and limit what we consume.
In my opinion I think this soda ban is bad idea. Yes it may help reduce the amount of sugar people consume at a certain restaurant, but that does not mean they can’t get it somewhere else. This ban does not do anything against most places that sell large sugary drinks, like coffee shops. And if we did do this it would anger many people. People feel that they have the right to consume whatever they want. Taking that away from them would cause a lot of trouble. This ban also really wouldn't do very much to change the obesity crisis. Just getting rid of drinks from places won’t be enough.

In this story Tom Robinson was a mockingbird. All he did try to help people out, but sadly it backfired on him. Tom Robinson had a wife and kids and did nothing to hurt anyone, he went to work like everybody else. On his way to work he had to pass the Ewell's. Their daughter Mayella Ewell liked to sit on the porch, and when Tom would pass by she always seemed a job for him. One day she invited him inside and something really bad happened. Tom had to go court, but no one would let him go, because he was black. "Tom was a daily reminder of what she did. What did she do? She tempted a Negro." pg 203 Tom had to go to jail and was eventually killed, all for a crime he never committed.
Boo Radley was always a myth to Scout she had never talked to him or even seen him. She had only heard the rumors. To her Boo Radley was a monster and something to be curious about. "...he dined on raw squirrels and any cats he could catch..." pg 13 Scout didn't realize that Arthur Radley was actually a good man. He left Scout and Jem gifts and saved them when they were almost murdered. After this Scout had great respect for Arthur, and didn't want him to be uncomfortable. So she helped convinced her dad to keep him a secret. Scout's view of Boo Radley had completely changed.
Often times children have a better view of right and wrong. Children's minds aren't corrupt yet, so they have a clearer view. When the men almost killed Atticus, he was ready to over look it and forgive them. Jem though didn't think it would be right to forgive them. "Don't call that a blind spot. He'd killed you last night when he first went there." pg 157 Jem also cried when Tom Robinson was found guilty.
In this book bad things happened to the wrong person and mysteries are solved. In this world just like this book, there are crows and mockingbirds.

In Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird there are many mockingbirds as well as many crows. A mockingbird is someone who only brings happiness and a crow is someone who brings anger and sadness. The crows cause a lot of unwanted trouble in this book, especially for the mockingbirds.

One thing that is very important to me is music, and to be more specific the band SHINee. My friend had found a band named f(x) through YouTube and she really liked their music. They had collaborated with SHINee on a song called Lollipop. My friend heard this and instantly fell in love. Since we’re best friends whenever we find something really cool we show each other, the first song she showed me was Hello. I really liked the song and thought the members were really cute, so that was a plus. That day she tried to have me memorize each member, it was pretty difficult but I did it. Sadly we found out the same day that we had mixed up three of the members. We both had to relearn some of the members and it was weird. We look back on it sometimes and think about how dumb we were.

SHINee recently had a comeback with their new album The Misconceptions of You, which was the first part, of a two part album. The second part will come out in two months called The Misconceptions of Me. They released a music video for the song Dream Girl, and the music video was amazing. Everyone looked really cute and their voices all sounded amazing. I hope they tour in California again soon because I would love to see them again. I’ve been a proud shawol (SHINee fans) for three years now and I will be for many more to come.
